Zoya | Matte Velvet Winter 2015

Press Sample
Hey guys! The best-selling, Zoya Matte Velvet finish returns this holiday season with six new shades. Each nail polish perfectly matte with that extra special Zoya Matte Velvet fleck finish everyone loves. Check out these beauties!

Zoya-Aspen
Zoya-Aspen

Aspen is described as a sparkling arctic white with a micronized diamond pearl fleck. I applied three thin coats to achieve full opacity. The first two coats were a bit streaky and I needed the third coat to even it out. This is a beautiful shade and will be perfect in the Winter for any snow themed manis.

Zoya-Sue
Zoya-Sue

Sue is described as a soft champagne gold with a multi-hued oyster shell pearl fleck. I applied three coats over a basecoat. Again, this felt thin and the first coat was streaky but evened out by the third coat. It wasn't fully opaque for me and you could see my free edge, which I am not a fan of but some may not mind that.

Amal is described as  a classic crimson red with a ruby red pearl fleck. I applied two coats to achieve full opacity. Great formula and very opaque. This is the perfect matte red for the Holiday season.

Iris is described as a deep amethyst with a fuchsia pearl fleck. I applied two coats to achieve full opacity. Again, great formula and pretty opaque. I love the the way the fuchsia flecks look with this shade of purple.

Zoya-Honor
Zoya-Honor

Honor is described as a true emerald green with a tone on tone emerald pearl fleck. I applied two coats to achieve full opacity. Great formula and applied well. This one was also pretty opaque with just one coat. Another beauty for the Holiday season!

Zoya-Yves
Zoya-Yves

Yves is described as a deep sapphire that's midway in between indigo and royal blue with a blue pearl fleck. I applied two coats to achieve full opacity. The first coat was a bit streaky but leveled out nicely by the second coat. This was my favorite out of the bunch. It's the perfect T.A.R.D.I.S blue(Obsessed with Doctor Who much? haha) BUT this will stain your cuticles so be very careful while applying. It may also stain your nail as well(as others have reported). I used two coats of yellow stopper base coat and had no staining but I also didn't have it on long.

My Thoughts:
Overall, I loved all but one of the polishes. I wasn't really a fan of the Sue. Although the color and finish is nice I wasn't a fan of the formula, it was too thin for my liking. The rest of the colors were pretty opaque and applied really well. If you liked any of Zoya's other Matte Velvet polishes I highly recommend you grab these to add to your collection!

You can purchase all six polishes in full size for $60, or individually for $10 each. For longer wear you can also purchase Zoyas Matte Velvet top coat for $10

  5. I like the subtle flecks and shimmer in these. Aspen look perfect for winter themed manicures, bummer that the formula is streaky though.
